I love Storm.. I don't say it enough, well.. I do - to him - daily. Yesterday, Storm received an award for Ski Patroller of the year! I am thrilled for him and not surprised, everything Storm does he give it his all and learns quickly, he's always been like that. I like snow.. from inside the house with a fire and good book (lol) but Storm loves it and just learned how to ski when he moved up here ( he was fortunate too to learn from one of the best) the next thing I know, he was off to BC to ski. Storm decided to become a lift operator 2 years ago an enjoyed it, he made people laugh & feel welcomed', he went in early to shovel snow & assisted some of the others but he was immediately interested in becoming 'ski patrol' after watching them in action, seeing how they help others. The next year he applied, trained and it wasn't long before he was ski patrol and loves it. How terrific he already became ski patroller of the year! The things he has learned will be lifelong, life saving skills & I've no doubts he continue to learn even more the next season and will excel again.
Everything for a reason.. when covid hit things change for all, the first year I (sadly, believing the hype) did not see Storm much at all & let me tell you I cried about it -lots... it became stressful for all with him in the city, the industry was under such strict rules it was ridiculous (still is), businesses all around shut down, everything became a hassle... I suggested he come home and one day he called and said "I'm moving up." It has been wonderful! Not the boy when he move out - now a man that I'm very proud of. I'm beyond grateful for too many reasons to mention but especially because of all the work he does around here, (Norm is pleased too for all the help) he does all the landscaping - creating the dream path I've always wished for & what a job it was, finding all the stones on the property some weighing hundreds of pounds dragging them into place! He cuts the grass, teaches me about fungi, grows edible fungi to help my brain (lions mane is my favourite), built planter boxes, planted the garden with me, does all the dishes, all the laundry, washes the floors (more often than I ever did), he is helps with everything I need.. & he cooks too!
What a cook he is - the best mashed potatoes I've ever had (I'm drooling now), amazing roasts - cooked to perfection, he BBQs the best, makes brisket but his pizzas are seriously the best I've ever had and he makes them at least every other week! Just a couple of days ago, he had a friend over and they had found fresh chanterelle's, fried them and put them on a pizza - oh my goodness, I can't wait until he finds more. He and I share the cooking and even then, he does most of my prep work due to me not being able (without pain) from my arthritis. He helps with all the pets, recently driving us all the way to Peterborough, to have Chairman meow neutered the dogs and bird just loves him. :). We LOVE having him here.
It's not perfect', what family is? We have our moments as all families do, it's a stressful time for all of us (around the world) Storm keeps me positive & hydrated.. lol. Of course we argue from time to time but we forgive fast too - you have to, it's what God expects and it's a peaceful way to be, we all need more peace in our daily lives. Storm also encouraged me to return to church, thankfully & his faith is strong also. Praise Jesus! Someone asked me 'If I was religious', I started to reply: not religious but - & he exclaimed "She LOVES Jesus!" lol - Yes I do! & the fact that he acknowledges it made me laugh out loud! No doubts about it!
Everything for a reason, more and more I realize all the good that came from 'Covid'... all lessons God will have us learn! I'm so happy he is here. If not for covid, I'm sure he'd still be living in Toronto. It didn't take long for him to love this area, the people and living in the woods, even with all the work & tree chopping! I thank God daily for his presence, my heart is overwhelmed some days when I think of the man he has become. It's been a difficult journey, he continues to rise above! Amen.
