How Sweet it is to Be Loved by You! gouache on black 8x11
I love honey! & bears.. and mushrooms. Mostly, honey. I eat it daily.
Honey is mentioned 61 times in the Bible. It is often associated with abundance, sweetness, and the blessings of God. Honey is used metaphorically in various contexts, symbolizing prosperity and the goodness of the land. For example, the Promised Land is described as "a land flowing with milk and honey," highlighting its richness and fertility.
Bread is the most mentioned food in the Bible, appearing over 300 times and symbolizing sustenance and God's provision. It is often referred to as the "staff of life" and holds significant spiritual meaning throughout the scriptures.
Bread & honey are a favourite 'middle of the night' go to snack.
I also like using honey to preserve or marinate! Have you tried candied garlic?? You clean garlic, put it in a clean jar and top it with honey and put it in the back of your pantry, I like waiting for at least 3 months, the garlic becomes chewy, sweet & flavourful! I eat it for energy. Slice a lemon (rind and all) and repeat - cover it with honey and put it in the fridge.. the honey become lemon flavoured (wonderful on waffles!) - and the lemons over time can be completely eaten, sweet lemon bursts - I always have a jar ready fo winter - tea or off a spoon, nothing soothes the start of a sore throat better. I also have a smaller jar of honey and cyan pepper to make a thick paste, I take for a kick start some days, especially if feeling a little 'weak' for whatever reason... and for every time I feel like I am getting a cold. I have not felt 'that' for a long time - maybe because I consume honey and other healthy ingredients, daily.
Honey - the ultimate sweet gift from nature, Bees & God - it is a miracle within itself.
I have had cannabis honey and it was delicious, it can be made by simply using a slow cooker with the two ingredients.
I then use the infused cannabis in banana bread recipes (after I strain it) and keep the honey in a jar for anything & everything. I don't have any on hand because I LOVE honey - on it's own, and believe it has healing properties we can't even imagine. I was going to attempt having a beehive for honey but a neighbour warned of a bear destroying her honey boxes and then not long after I saw my first bear on my front yard. I don't want to encourage bears in my yard... or property -although I know they are there, we've seen them a few times now.
Off topic, yesterday I started one of the best books I have ever read, about bears - I'll finish it today, as I can hardly put it down - bonus - it take place in Algonquin Park! I live in 'Algonquin Highlands' so.... I am getting a new perspective on bears. More as soon as I finish - only 1/2 done - I recommend it already! It has me re thinking my bird feeders.
Pooh was a playful painting that took no time at all... Art is a fantastic, enjoyable way to educate, or at least create a curiosity where others might look into a topic further. I can't convince but I can create a curiosity, where someone might research further and possibly even experiment with honey of their own - I am positive people must marinate all sort of things in honey! By the way, I also give my dogs a tiny taste... Athene loves it, Arrow - sometimes, Ginger no (she's a meat eater) and Poppy could take it or leave it.
Above all - Let us Thank the Bees!! What a blessing they present us with, I pray they never stop.
