We're going to hell in a handbag!! Cards & matching envelops.
"We're going to hell in a handbag!" I remember my grandma saying that, never quite understanding:
"Going to hell in a handbag" is a variation of the phrase "going to hell in a handbasket," which means a situation is rapidly deteriorating or headed for disaster. The phrase uses "handbag" instead of "handbasket," but the meaning remains similar.
It's kinda how I feel every time I read about Ai.
Elon Musk predicts that humanoid robots could outnumber humans by 2040, estimating around 10 billion humanoid robots in use globally. His company, Tesla, is actively developing these robots through its Optimus project... who the heck can afford that many robots? The government possibly, well they can't but they'll make us pay for them -one way or another. I think he's over estimating. He can't possibly have orders for that many. Apparently, they'll do everything and for only $20,000 - $25,000 you can own one... to do what? Laundry, cook, clean, water the plants , walk the dogs.. what happens to us then? Will we evolve into human hybrid slugs? Not just that - the majority of the population, can't afford a 20,000 'helper'. It doesn't appear to be helper robots as much as surveillance robots. I'll pass, I don't even want a Roomba vac. because of what I've read about them -sending images of a woman to FB? Why? Oh Don't forget robots are carrying babies too - in their WOMB (with a view) - Yikes! It seems like things escalated rather quickly and it's NOT all good. Expect the dancing Chihuahuas.. they amuse me.
Factories are already switching over to all robots in place of humans. Many businesses are increasingly adopting robots to automate tasks, with companies like Amazon planning to replace over 600,000 jobs with robots by 2033 to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. This trend is driven by the need for faster operations and the challenges of finding human labor in various sectors. Just yesterday I was reading why... you know why, we all do. Humans are expensive & we, unlike robots - we can be hurt (badly) which can be an added expense for companies with lawsuits. We get sick, take days off, our kids get sick and we need to look after them, we take breaks - to smoke, poop, eat, check our phones, run errands, socialize and more. We take time off to have our babies an go on much needed vacations. Employees also steal from employers, when we ran the restaurant, we had lots go missing, food, wine, dishes, candle holders and napkin rings! The number of times and excuses people wanted off from work was endless & somedays - people just don't care and don't show up. Some employees even show up impaired, still drunk... no exceptions. I've read about school bus drivers, police, pilots & even surgeons - all impaired on the job.
Robots, never leave, never show up hungover, go 24/7 and don't COMPLAIN. They also don't piss off customers.
Yesterday I went to the bank, was talking to my teller (a handsome gentleman with lovely energy) when another teller came over and rudely interjected her opinion on what I was saying (taken out of context) to him... I responded: Excuse me? Was I speaking to YOU? She gave me a dirty look and walked away. I thought - NOT only do they charge us FEEs -for what!? We are insulted and treated like crap for simply coming in, because some teller got out of the wrong side of the bed that morning. They forget, IF not for all of us, they would not have job, they will be reminded soon, sadly.
A podcast I listened to recently, the godfather of Ai was explaining why jobs like bank tellers, truck drivers, servers, teachers, amazon factory workers, retail will all be some of the first to GO. Who needs servers when you can pay a one time price of $20,000 for a robot to take meals to tables, forever? That's a massive saving & all the worries that come with humans- gone. I also thought yesterday, IF digital ID was in place - like in China- that teller probably would have blocked me from getting my money. No? Check out what's happening in China & social credit scores. BTW- I was also told: they did not have money. I had to get some from the teller and then was told to get the rest from the debit machine. It was no insane amount either.. Banks don't have money? What is that about?
My guess to make way for digital currency with digital ID - soon we won't NEED cash or tellers.
My experience was a reminder, as difficult as it will be for many - I absolutely understand why employers are going in that direction. I said a prayer for the teller- soon to be unemployed. From all I've been reading it will be less than 2 years.
There's more to Ai that meets the eye... I hope we can address the problems before they continue to get out of control and we all go to hell in a handbag!! Either way - now I have a card for every occasion. :)
Enjoy this day the Lord has made, play with your pets! Paint a card! Fold your laundry - no robot needed.
