Ginger isn't that thrilled about Athene, this comes as no surprise. Ginger does not like to share her babies/toys, and her eyes widen every time the pup goes for one. These two have a different dynamic than the rest but Athene does not back down, if anything she's more outgoing towards Ginger - which is good because Ginger is already more getting extra exercise. Ginger is permitted to snap at the pup & visa versa.. but soon the puppy will be taught "be nice!" to her little sister & Ginger too will probably have to be told: be nice to your big sister! This is IMPORTANT as Athene will be much bigger and powerful and capable of hurting a small dog & it's simply NOT permitted. If/when she gets too ruff (puns intended) I'll lock her in my bedroom for only 10 minutes, dogs' don't like to be left out of the pac, no hitting necessary - they learn this lesson very fast.
The faces Gingers makes are priceless and then when I say "Ginnnnnger.... are you being a good girl?" She looks at me like this (below) and how can I resist? Snuggles for this girl who is trying very hard to be good. Right now, the main focus is me watching and encouraging safe interaction between all. The cat is a different story - my gosh - it won't leave Athene alone - it's his new favourite toy and the two of them are more enjoyable to watch than Mike Tyson & Jake Paul.
Today, I'm teaching this baby to play on it's blanket so mom can paint! I haven't been able to complete anything since she arrived. Her training is going to be enjoyable - we've not even had her a week and she knows 'sit' and to 'come' when called -she is already following the dogs out when I call "Pee break" & chases Storm outside - terrific! He'll have a new running partner when he jogs through the forest. Athene did her first poop at the end of the driveway! Yay!! Next Athene & Daisy.
Snow, we have trenches dug out of the snow, lol and when I round a corner Athene is so small we disappear and she cries! Where did you go!? Arrow usually turns back and shows here - here we are and she come running. I'm so excited for our first forest visit!! Looking at the snow.. might be a bit yet. Shout out to Storm - I was getting concerned about the amount of snow on the gazebo so Storm shovelled it off. Whew'. Everything else more or less has a high pitch. I' can't recall seeing this much snow since I was a kid, I hope it's done but I doubt it.
I saw a post yesterday that I was shocked at.. it was a woman and an OPP police officer was at her door -commenting to her about her FACEBOOK post. I thought it must be in the USA or UK... NOPE. Right here in Ontario, something about her being in a group about protests. Is this what we are coming to? I'm pretty sure the law Trudeau tried to pass regarding this sort of thing & freedom of speech online ended when he ended. This is what is happening in the UK. I get not spreading hate speech, I don't agree with things like 'death to politicians' no matter how corrupt, but showing up at someones house?! HOW much tax payer money does that cost? Isn't crime high right now? How about domestic violence? I'm sure there are more genuine 'crimes/offences' our police department should be concentrating on. A sad day indeed for Canada - Keep our land free & strong.. One thing several Canadians were saying was simply : Don't answer the door.
This is what it will come to, it will cause more damage than good between the relationship with the police & the public, that's a losing situation for everybody.
Have a great day, I'm about to paint while the pup is napping! Training a puppy gives you a fantastic friend for the rest of its life - hopefully a long time, it's never long enough with a dog in my opinion, I still miss many but all the more grateful for those I have, who God has sent to love & be loved.
