On my mind.. 8 x 11 watercolour
Let me start by mentioning the above idea is not my own but something I saw on a Domestica course, I liked the idea, that being said - I'm not overly pleased with this painting. At first I was enjoying the process and then I became distracted while painting it.. but I worked through it, not in the same 'frame of mind' when I started, I should have stopped.
I over worked it. I also don't find it a realistic likeness but wanted the exaggerated shape to fit in 'a lot of ideas'. I decided to finish it as I was then considering a different idea along the same lines (you'll see it soon) that I am pleased with & it allowed for time to ponder. That's the point, we are to work through things, even if not thrilled at the time, it's all a lesson on learning, mostly patience and to not let myself 'be distracted.
I was reading about a few things this past week, like the decline in births in the USA, Canada and several other places around the world and they can't figure out why - phbbbbt - it doesn't take a genius to figure it out with the cost of living right now. I was blown away upon learning how much it costs to have a baby in the USA. If you have insurance - depending on if it's a natural birth or C-section (C costs more) its about $3,000 *with insurance... about $23,000. if you don't have insurance. Holy Cow - I felt really bad for Americans after reading this, to go into debt to just have a child is shameful, no wonder so many struggle with debt their entire lives & why they are choosing NOT to have babies. This doesn't include the cost of raising children, which all of us are familiar with, especially now with daycare, groceries and living arrangements. So, why politicians are confused is confusing.
Also, most infant mortalities are still among black children, who can explain this?
Why should anyone 'pay to bring a child of God into this world? This world, provided by God, for us all.
We don't pay to have our babies but we sure pay in other ways along the way. Our cell phone bills are the highest in the world, our dental bills are pretty high also and lets not forget prescription glasses costing us hundreds, compared to our American neighbours, with the current exchange rate it's not much of a deal for us to shop anywhere outside of Canada. Our alcohol is costly albeit easily available now thanks to Doug Ford, the one who jokes about how Canadians can visit veterinarians for MRIs instead of focusing on our struggling, suffering hospitals & staff & patients all waiting for life saving tests. We have the largest monopoly in the world with the LCBO. Our postal prices are high, travel cost are extravagant, food cost ridiculous and of course our taxes are insane. What are our politicians doing about it- SQUAT.... FA. I don't know if the rumours I've heard are true about how much the average new immigrant receives but something is messed up when existing Canadians all over are struggling just to live and feed themselves, many finding themselves newly homeless. All Canada is doing it seems, is adding more people to this struggle without being able to offer any viable solutions. Moral in Canada is low, I understand why. I also feel bad for new immigrants, being offered & taking jobs for less than others would work for because employers are offered perks from the government and know they can get a new improved 'slave labour for less. All this is just creating more animosity towards immigrants. They are not to blame for the current situations arising in Canada at this point, I'm sure it's more than Trudeau (who seems awfully quiet lately) is allowing or can be blamed for as well. It seems to be all part of the plan. When will Canadians say 'Enough is enough', our own government is robbing Canadians blind & is forcibly pushing many into poverty.
Are you paying attention? I was reading about a Disney case - in a nutshell: a couple visiting A Disney theme park went to a restaurant and the wife had a sever allergic reaction & died, after they had repeatedly asked and made their server well aware of her allergies.. Disney tried to state that because the husband had (years earlier) signed off or 'agreed' to a free month of Disney TV - like so many of us have (including me)... because the husband agreed to accept a free month of Disney+ - Disney tried to say he signed off on ever holding Disney responsible for any pain and suffering - even if it happened due to their neglect at one of their theme parks - WTF. If that isn't a sign of greed and coercion, I don't know what is. Alas, I wasn't the only one upset - due to backlash, they (Disney) has already dropped the threat. *Everyone who has ever signed off on such things should be concerned, it should make all reconsider accepting any agreement when it can be so easily used against anyone. Is this the direction corporations will try to go in the future? Shameful, no frigging wonder Disney is struggling. Proof once AGAIN - The People do have the power.
Poor Walt, I can't imagine he would be proud of such actions. I'm done with 'now' Disney.
It's interesting how we do change our opinions, actions, ideas over time.
Be Careful what you are signing.
Ending on a positive note, Mark Hogben & Duke, who I painted their portrait for earlier this month received it & mentioned 'He loves it.' Made my day. I'm happy he is happy. Time to work on my next WB cartoon & 'what's on your mind, painting. I enjoy having more than one project on the go.
Created to Create - Enjoy this day the Lord has made!
