Jesus Sacred heart. John 3:16. Acrylic on wood. 38inches tall
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Omgosh... Let me start by admitting, I had way too much fun taking selfies with Jesus!
My forest Jesus is done.. he needs a clear coat, tomorrow we'll take him out to the forest where I like to sit & attach him to a tree. I also told Storm I want a trail camera hooked up on him as I know animals will see him too - like the time I had the 'goat I painted hanging on the gate & had photos of dogs looking at him in the middle of the night. Arrow seems as interested in Jesus as I am and kept photobombing Him. I could have made Him more realistic - more Jonathan Roomie Jesus but then I'd be 'ooogling' JR and not JC... lol, so I painted from imagination and am pleased with my representation and his slight smile & wide pupils. Our pupils dilate when we love someone and this Jesus loves everyone that looks upon him. Painted with lots of love for my creator & His son our Lord.
I painted just 1/2 the verse thinking anyone who knows, knows... and that's all that matters right there - the amount of Love God had for all of us, the world, that He gave us his only son and we know how the story goes. I painted the letters with special violet iridescent paint that appears to 'glow' when the light hits it just so. I know I say "it was a pleasure to paint" but this one really was! It had me smiling at Him & thinking about Him the entire time while listening to Gospel classics like 'In the garden, by Josh Garrels & 'God's country by Blake Shelton to name a couple and lets not forget Elvis gospel, Patsy Cline & K.D. Lang. Listening to the right mood music can also be very inspiring for your art. So, now I have my own tribute art to put in the forest and for many years to come - God willing.
I had a few ideas as I was painting and think I will create them also, Jesus with more of a nature appearance for the woods... a large St. Francis for the forest critters, one fitted with a bowl I can place seeds/peanuts in! Michael the Archangel perhaps up in a tree waiting and always ready to battle Satan. I wonder if I'll get some bear or deer selfies' with Jesus! I'm excited to find out. It's a visual reminder for me (not that I need it - I like it) that Jesus is with me, always.
The lessons he taught us and the unconditional love he shows us all. I guess it will just be me and the critters for selfies, unless company wants to walk the woods. (if they can find Him), not such an easy task at times - now the walk will be all the more worthwhile!

I hope I've inspired someone to create their own Jesus!
On the desk in a twirling Warner Brother cartoon creation for a new set I'm starting... just because it also makes me feel good & that's what God wants - for us to enjoy our lives and be grateful for each day and every blessing! Enjoy this day the Lord has made - You were created to create! & praise Jesus!
