Frog chilling with a secret. This little frog is a match stick holder made from a small recycled mustard jar. Shout out to DAS & creativity! I love DAS air drying clay- I remember my first pack. I was given some for Christmas and every now and then I decide it's a 'clay day! You know it's a good day physically -if it's a clay day, it means my hands don't hurt.
You know this tiny frog is no masterpiece but it is indeed a work of art, created with love & joy & some frustration, making the frog all the more appreciated, now completed. I hope I encourage someone to break out the DAS, I bet it's been decades for some. Creativity is declining (not mine, in general) & it's not rocket science.. if people can ask a machine to create for them.. they are. Comparison on social media is also not helping.
Here we are again - use it or lose it applies.
Do you know what helps? Forcing yourself to try new crafts'. Break out the DAS! Cover something old & give it new use & life - or make someone a gift. The next clay project I saw on instagram - a gift. I do more clay in the summer because my hands work better. It would have been very easy to give up clay all together - anyyone would take a look at my hands and understand why - not one finger bends - it has given my art a new look, lol. I see joy. I see accomplishment -as small as it might seem. I see a joyful few hours spent doing something I love, looking at leaves not reels. I love - ending up with something that is also useful. This frog holds matches.. the spark is inside - JUST like us! Do it! Make something clay - be creative. I let it dry & painted with acrylic & clear coat of MOD podge, another craft staple I've had for years. You don't need that much.. start by ripping up an old magazine, printed photos, mod lodge it to a box. Something simple... just create. It's satisfying, relaxing and good for the brain!
Know what else I made today .. a MOOSE! I just looked over at him and smiled. A very last minute moose- more on the moose soon, a fun little photo prop I decided to whip up.. lol created it in record time- 2 days. A few things I made just before I broke my knee, are for events' now or soon taking place, I'll share after they have been displayed.
Today, the Lord created another tiny human! Probably a few! A new baby to love & raise with love & hope... and a childhood, as all babies deserve. To be welcomed with LOVE. How awesome is God.
The least we can do is create someone show our gratitude. Love creates. Send out creative energy into the universe!
Buy your kids some DAS! It is a great summer outdoor craft - let them roll up a ball and stick stuff in it- feathers, twigs, rocks, shells - call it Summer memory creature 2026 ' start a new tradition! A stick porcupine'.. the possibilities are endless. With God anything is possible.
While taking these photos the SWEETEST little woodpecker a baby - seen in the photo below, came and sat watching me.
How awesome is God, sending me that tiny art critic to 'chirp in my ear!
