Fly fishing. 8 x 8 gouache on black
This painting was an idea for a bigger painting. There have been a few fly fishing scenes in movies we've watched lately & I understand why it's relaxing, watching the line dance across the water. Not positive as I've never fly fished (and am not likely to) but it appears to be a peaceful way to spend a day. The fishing line states: You are where God wants you to be.
The fishing line is painted in my metallic paint so it glistens in the light. It didn't take long but I'm pleased with the 'concept art' for the possible larger , more detailed painting, perhaps. So many paintings so little time.
I've been reading about Disney artists, some of the lesser famous' yet still crucial to the creation of several movies, Fantasia concept paintings are amazing as are the Lion King, works of art in themselves. Seeing some of the original sketches of character designs -some are way off to what they finally ended up as but I've no doubts they assisted in creating the final characters.. a growing process for art & movies. I liked when we could 'see how movies were made at the end of DVDs, I found it as fascinating as the actual movies.
I have several books on concept paintings from Disney Movies & for Star wars, each time I read & reflect on them I'm inspired to paint - pink skies and blue mountains, the same feeling occurs when I watch classic Warner Brother cartoons. I have to add, reading about the Disney artists it was common for them to feel 'burnt out' after a while and not so inspired, a few felt betrayed by Walt when he started to focus on his Parks', his own passion directed elsewhere... how he did what he did (Walt Disney) blows my mind, he was absolutely a creative genius to which I wonder if any have surpassed him to date. To feel like creation has become a job' and have the huge work loads and pressures that most Disney artist had/have - careful what you wish for. I'm grateful to them for sharing their talents, many of them never achieving 'fame' or fortune but made the movies, what they are... Animation masterpieces!
Today, Im painting outside, I recently purchased a 'travel painting box/easel in case I want to adventure, possible paint some fly fishermen/woman, you never know what the day will bring.
You are where God wants you to be, always. You may as well enjoy yourself - created to create.
