Move over paint - I'm breaking out the clay!! Yay!
A while back I thought a painting I did, in a sketch book would make a neat flower holder, pencil holder & I just want to try! I love clay, always have.. I use to teach it to kids in my studio and we always had a blast. The 'tree pencil holder' was made in 2002! The eyes glow and it has curved it's purpose a long time!
I got a kick of inspiration from watching: First in miniature on CBC Also available on Netflix. You can't help but be inspire by the creativity, the humans and their journey. I watched all 3 seasons but was especially enamoured with season 3. These doll houses when complete are amazing! Far from my old tin dollhouse (which I enjoyed for many years) as a child & later I had a doll house my uncle made but after years of kids poking and playing it took it's toll and the house did not survive. I still have a big box of miniature stuff that I acquired over the years and I'm digging it out to play, in a different way! I'm going to make a shadowbox scene - after my clay creation. I have already made this clay piece in my head, I had to.. I don't have the flexibility in my fingers so I'm going to put chunky parts together and sculpt it with tools & see how it goes! I'll show you when complete - hopefully you'll be inspired! You have arthritis & your hands are sore? Suck it up buttercup - your mind & spirit needs you to create!
As these incredible artists build their tiny homes they are doing so much more- they are 110% focused on their dreams and goals & they are creating their successful future at the same time on a grand scale!! I have no doubts they can all quit their jobs and create miniatures! That Indigenous house by Lance (I expected to win), the pow-wow adventure was amazing! Tiff & her log cabin in the wilderness - make me miniature so I can move it! lol. Elliot won and I know why - it was impressive due to the details & story. One guy had a mini T.V that worked and had 3channels! How the heck? Good on them, they found their niche and are making money from it - doing what they LOVE. Watch it - get some inspiration. I look forward to more seasons - I am beyond sick of true crime - enough already.. fear mongering overload... treat your brain with treats! Inspire yourself.. I look forward to seeing a real log cabin. Norm is talented at miniatures, remember the outhouse? he likes to build small.. I have suggested he make something this winter.. less T.V. more creativity! We'll see how that goes... you can lead a horse to water.
Completely off topic.. Do you like oysters? I do.. raw, smoked, fried. I did. For months I've been warning Storm (also likes oysters) DO not eat them. For what ever reason, I'm reading about issues all over, Canada & world wide. people are getting sick from them, some VERY sick. I've also been reading about Flesh eating disease on the increase, I have seen someone suffer with this first hand and know someone that died from it. I don't even know what to say but I think I'd refrain from visiting certain places & bodies of water for swimming. Are they worth it? Ask yourself - for me it's a NO. Not at the moment. Raw oysters can make people sick due to bacteria like Vibrio vulnificus and viruses such as norovirus, which can be present in contaminated waters. Eating raw or undercooked oysters increases the risk of serious illness, including severe gastrointestinal symptoms and, in some cases, death.
