Mickey Mouse! Acrylic on wood 8 inches
Better late than never! You might remember my 'Classic Steamboat Willy' Mickey twirling art - I finally finished the other side yesterday! I try to finish what ever I'm working on although many times about 1/2 through, I think -this is not turning out or.. I move onto something else, more exciting. This is a bad habit to get into - I know, I did it for years and ended up with a lot of art 1/2 finished. The problem is once you stop you can lose the momentum on what you were creating, look at it later and forget what you planned, or just can't get the 'vision' you once had back. Often in the past they ended up in the trash or completely covered with gesso, ready to start something new. For what ever reason (probably excited about a new project) this Micky got put aside, one side blank. Yesterday, I saw it on the shelf and was determined to finish it... it didn't take long & I felt great when done - especially since it's been sitting, waiting. Now when/if I don't complete something I put it where it can be seen & not forgotten so very few things end up unfinished. I've learned by doing this as with all things -lessons are to be learned. Some of my difficult work that I create and walk away from thinking it's not going the way I anticipated end up being some of my favourites when I persevere through the doubt.
Today, I'm working on something completely different (very excited) that I hope, will help with a sort of problem we've been experiencing & I'll explain further. Here's a sneak peek:

I was reading about the olympics and thought, OH my gosh, this is the worst olympics ever. First 'they' have apologized and tried to say they were not representing the 'last supper' (no mention of rider on a pale horse) at the opening, then admitted 'yes, it was' - that's because people are not blind or stupid & it was intentionally offensive to many. Now the anger is over a match where a transgender man beat (boxing) a woman athlete in a match. Some accomplishment, phhhhbt. WTFrig? If this is the case why have two categories of male and female, what's the point anymore? How about 3 categories... Male, Female & Transgender, I bet many would change their 'tune' then. Many are in an uproar as they should be - that poor girl trained her entire life to make it to the olympics and had her dreams smashed in a few very unfair moments. I'm thrilled they are being called out for it by countless professionals. Notice how it is more 'men' competing in women's sports? Why... because they'd be failures if competing against other men, it sure appears that way. More sponsors dropping out - I guess so. This is hurting an already struggling 'industry' on many levels. Who will even want to take the chance in the future to sponsor or even compete? What's the point? Thanks Paris for destroying the lives an hopes of many. All things are lessons God will have us learn.
