Arrow & Athene are as exactly as I predicted.. Amazing together. Arrow is patient, always off watching from a distance, like when the cat is beating on the puppy (way too often for my liking) she only intervenes if the pup yelps. She gives the baby kisses an runs to it if it cries & lets it climb all over her. Athene gets over tired and cranky, whiny and snappy', she want to lay down with her head on my lap or resting against my head, once asleep - she's OUT. Deep baby sleep. Thank God for puppy naps - it's taken me 2 hours to try to do a sketch today! If she's not stealing my kneadable' eraser, she teething on the end of my watercolour pad. No! She loves the snow, I took a photo of her pooping in the snow and share it on social media- all my fellow dog lovers 'get my happiness' at this task. Usually, we get our pups in the spring so we can train them faster without all the snow, oh well... these snow photos were taken yesterdays blizzard! Arrow never had one accident (still has not) in the house, I got her the first week in August, unlike this pup who has really made me appreciate NOT having the new floor in, yet.
20 days & spring is on the way!
Other than Arrow gently growling from time to time - 'teaching growls' she is amazing, if the pup goes out of sight I tell Arrow: Go get Athene!! & she does, she runs, finds, barks and the pup come running behind her as she returns! *I always give them a cookie (homemade) to reinforce this mindset. What a fast learner this baby is! I am already struggling to lift her, she has tippled in size in 2 weeks! The only other dogs I remember growing so fast were my Great Danes.
Then remains one.. this F*&%$#@*&^!! CAT! Holy terror cat- I have spent days chasing and cursing at this cat! He thinks the pup is his personal play toy, he runs and jumps on it sending it rolling across the room and has often made it yelp.
I chase him every time, spray him with water, smacked it with a dishtowel, throw stuff at it and it is RELENTLESS! I threw it out into the snow the other day just to cool (me and him) off and he was back in and at it again. The only saving grace - for not getting rid of the cat, Athena is growing so fast and is now starting to occasionally get 'the upper paw', actually dragging the cat by the tail the yesterday. Yay! So.. soon My Kitty is going to learn this puppy is bigger than him - a lot bigger. Fun!? You bet.. tired - YEP!
I tell ya though, I love dogs and what a wonderful distraction from the rest of the world at the moment - I saw Trump and his Oval Office meeting, . a little too heated for me. I watch & remind myself; at this point - it's all going exactly the way it has been predicted, planned, plotted. It's all a show and Trump & the cast are absolutely entertaining the masses.
TV & cell phones = Weapons of mass distraction & destruction. I also KNOW who wins, in the end.
Remember to give your mind what it needs and is in you already - The piece of God, the Peace of Jesus.
