Have you heard of Toad licking? If you have not, you are not alone. Toad licking is the unusual and deliberate practice of licking secretions of certain species of toads to get high. Toads such as the Sonoran Desert toad (seen below) and Colorado river toad are commonly used toads in this odd practice that secrete bufotenine, a naturally occurring tryptamine also found in some mushrooms and plants. Warnings must be given: Please, don't lick the toads.
It's further proof that humans will do what ever they deem necessary to feel better or get high'. I have no desire what so ever to lick a toad, no matter how good it may feel for some. Yuk. Clearly there are much safer options.. or are there? Options that won't land you in jail for exploring or feeling better.
Even animals in the wild have been witnessed 'getting intentionally high' from time to time. Who discovered toad licking? Apes ingesting psilocybin makes much more sense... I wonder if apes lick toads. Dogs apparently lick toads, I've never seen my dogs ever interested in toads to the point they lick them.
When will we stop punishing people for wanting to feel better, escape, relax...get high. I'm starting to realize it's almost an a right of passage, for many.. it's how humans feel in their 20's - the need to expand their mind, feel euphoria, explore the options the universe provides. Before you knock toad lickers - have you had a glass of scotch today? How about a couple glasses of wine? One mans high is another mans poison.
Putting people in prison for getting 'personally high' is a crime, yet pick up any paper, follow any news feed and you will read (especially in Canada at the moment) real dangers, criminals are constantly getting set free to re offend again and again.. hurting and killing innocent victims. Putting drunk drivers in jail - especially those that constantly repeat & harm others, I agree with. But the reality is: for the number of people that get high every single second of every day - very few commit deadly crimes against others. Most get high to help themselves function, feel better and even forget' for a little while - lifes problems. Pedophiles on the other hand.. don't need to get high to hurt, apparently they can hurt and are rereleased back into society like the recent attack on a 3 year old, sexually assaulted in her own home, while her mom sleep in the next room, choked and sexually attacked by a evil &^%$#(*&^%$# person, who was released after he had already sexually assault a young boy only a few years prior. WTF is wrong with our system?
Break-ins are at an all time high in Toronto, one man shot in front of his family, just last week and police are advising - Comply. WTF!? Comply!? Tell that to the 3 year old. I think who ever let that pig out of jail... should go to jail.
Who is letting proven child sex offenders free? Who thinks it's o.k. to keep letting these very sick individuals free to re offend? Anyone? We are told not to judge - not on appearance anyhow.. judging on actions is another story.
What is wrong with our system where we still put people in jail that cause no physical harm to others - yet evil is let out to thrive? Is it intentional? Is it part of the agenda?
The one place everyone should feel completely safe & have privacy, is their home.
Breaking into someones home, invading their privacy, stealing from them, threatening them, intimidating them, hurting them should be automatic jail time & homeowners should be able to defend themselves & loved ones, I'm sure many have also heard of the guy who did defend himself and has been charged, causing him stress and worry - for protecting himself from an armed intruder. Even 'hackers' who break into your computers, email.. they are aware of their intentional acts to cause harm, or why else do it? They know what they are doing when they forcibly break into someones home, they know its illegal & deserve to go to jail for it, regardless of 'age', as with all these 'young offenders' stealing from jewelry stores, breaking into homes and stealing vehicles across the GTA.
That little girl will never feel safe at home' again, her life will never be normal again, her mother will never feel completely safe again & that has caused more harm than any jail time' ever will. That evil human has taken more from that family than many will ever understand. People like him, make me wish Canada still had the death penalty.
