Amanita 5 x 7. gouache on watercolour paper . Not available - it was a commission.
This was painted on a new watercolour pad I picked up at Masters Bookstore in Haliburton, they have a nice selection of sketchbooks for anyone who's interested & kids crafts, puzzles, cards but this paper/pad is lovely. I don't have to tape it down, drawing 5 x 7 allows for a border & it doesn't warp. It also has a soft appearance to it... reminding me of 'felt', you can see what I mean if you look at the background. I like it so much I'm picking up another pad as the price was also reasonable. I'm painting the last of the mushrooms this season.
We had company for Thanksgiving and we went on a foray - almost 2 hours in the forest and many mushrooms were still discovered! The dogs were loving it, well not Poppy near the end, it was a bit cool and I ended up carrying her in my vest for a bit. I'll have to remember the sling to carry her in the future as she can get a bit heavy after a while.
I'm switching to acrylic today! I have about 10 pieces of wood to paint - some gifts, some not but I'm switching over!
This means I also give thought to what I'm wearing - so I don't destroy it with acrylic paint & I switch up my brush containers - moving my gouache brushes OFF my desk to so don't grab one and ruin it, if I forget to rinse it, I even give thought to music I'll be listening to - I'm excited! I'll still share a few more gouache the next few days and won't share the acrylic gifts until they have been given. The weather the next few days looks beautiful! More forest discovery. Storm actually took the leaf blower through the forest and cleared off the path so it's easier to walk with better visibility, easier to see everything like rocks and stumps hidden under leaves. Time to create something beautiful!
Enjoy this day the Lord has made!
