Two creations on my desk today! I was in the mood for a couple of twirling art, both started yesterday will be finished today! Daily goals - paint and hug a tree - or two, fill the humming bird feeders & plan my next foam art- I have a giant foam board just sitting taunting me at the moment.. what's it gonna be? Like that giant canvas you are nervous to start. Something will be started for it, if only in my mind, today.
What do you think of 3 D printing? I think - it's pretty neat! & creative.. and must be also wasteful. I do not have one, or know anyone that has one albeit I know they are now affordable & popular & libraries offer classes for kids to use them. I don't have one but have thought about them, not planning on it but I have learned a few things and some- YIKES you better learn before you purchase one - especially if considering a 3D printed HOME.
A 3D printed home! How cool - I have seen a couple in magazines already, I believe a couple have been built in Canada & I have blogged about them before. Remember when Justin Trudeau announced a C$600 million investment aimed at promoting innovative construction technologies, including 3D-printed homes, to address Canada's housing crisis. This initiative focused on making homebuilding faster and more cost-effective.... How's that going?
Well I know many Canadians were excited about it but you better watch THIS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRLqld_jD_g&list=WL&index=1 THESE 3D builds are ALREADY failing. Literally cracking.. and frankly - no-one can tell you how these homes will hold up in 10, 20, 100 years as -there are none. After watching that - NO- full stop.
I would be waiting until they sorted it out. I wonder if Justin knows... or cares? Probably not- he's too busy hopping around in music videos. How many homes were built, how many homeless were helped with that$600. million investment? I remember reading - people will be able to afford 3D homes and they will go up fast- too fast. Affordable perhaps - initially, (and they currently are not affordable) but who knows how much you will have to spend on repairs - or like the above example- where the town made them tear it down. How disappointing that must have been!
Some Canadians are betting big on 3D printing.. I wonder how aware they are. It is VERY cool - but in the long run... quite a big investment in equipment and to homeowners. I do hope they figure it out because I think it is interesting, functional, easier and hopefully will be affordable - to those that need them. Another thing I learned is the companies who own these printers want more control of EVERYTHING you print & much like the recent gaming news - you will pay and rent 'programs -patterns' and not own them, which will make these creators - have to pay more to create. Perhaps before spending a sum on these printers- check out what's coming - regarding laws and regulations, no point owning it, if you can't afford to use it. They are banning tool use TARGETING 'PERSONAL manufacturing' in the states check it out - absolutely wild that this is happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOyrFus1Yus
It's amazing what technology can create.. incredible that individuals have the opportunity to be these creators - as they should.
Who knows what's next?
Created to create!
I'm gonna go 3D some clay loons. :).
Enjoy this day the Lord has made!
