America- As a Canadian - my entire life it was a big deal to 'go to the U.S!' Go shopping, see all the cool stuff - Americans were ahead of the time - good deals on food, clothing and fun to be had with every visit.  A little older and wiser now- I have been reading  over and over America is now number one housing prisoners. Private prisons - (shades of S.H.) How sad - to once be considered the American dream - Now many Americans are living the American Nightmare. The reality and worse part - it is the ALREADY suffering that end up paying a further price.. the poor and the sick & the black. That's a fact.  It is difficult for me to comprehend that STILL in this day and age - with the awareness we have -  more African Americans are STILL treated like second class citizens in the land of the FREE. Because of the color of their skin. YET they have a black president! It is confusing to say the least.  
Would anyone brag about the fact that thy have more prisoners than anywhere else in the world? Are all these prisoners dangerous criminals - I doubt it!  Many are in jail for Cannabis - a "plant" that has never killed anyone - no victim no crime right?  WRONG. 
Surf facebook and you will find too many vidoes now of police brutality in the U.S.A - some pretty scary stuff. Hard to believe it is happening but thank God now for camera phones. 
I don't live in American I live in Canada - Steven Harper is building private prisons - are we next? Do you see what is happening in the United states.. They are not so united these days.
All the things that I thought were great are not so great - all that great fast food - such variety -is also making Americans NUMBER one in the world! At being fat. YIKES - How must parents of children feel in a country that is going this direction. Worried. 
I worry about my American friends. People look to the U.S.A - as an example...  thankfully most countries are not following in the same direction  when it comes to prisons and the war on drugs. Well then there is Steven Harper... sigh.

It is all in our minds. ONCE you sit and go over it - again and again - YOU CAN NOT understand why Cannabis is illegal. REALLY. I know I find this happening time and time again.  It is really insane - The truth can not possibly be hidden longer! 
As for bars/clubs - I had my share in the past (The Big Bop, The Conroy, The Grey Goat, Greystones - The Ports...I mention them to make aware I was aware.)  Many hire especially good looking bartenders- why not a little something to wet your whistle before you wet your whistle and then a little flirt to keep you coming back... at 8$ a GLASS!!!  
A Dr.  who prescribes Cannabis to help ease someone's pain -is considered a criminal???NOT TO MENTION ( o.k. I guess I am-) STOP AND THINK How many people over drink and then leave the bar and DRIVE - will the bartender be charged? They can be! BUT chances are the person is too drunk to ever make that person responsible. ESPECIALLY if they die. THEY SHOULD BE - or should they - if anyone should be charged it should be the makers of the alcohol - if you have $$$$$$$ to attempt to sue them- but wait - are they forcing it down your throat? You tell me the next time you get a HIGH GLOSS, full color recipe magazine - what BOOZE goes best with what GRUB -FREE!!! From the LCBO delivered right to your mailbox.  Signs, ads, posters, t -shirts.. 
CLEAR your mind. 
DARE to compare the facts!

This cartoon is reality. Drawing it I realized just what a joke it all is. The money that is being made from the Cannabis industry, you are legally permitted to do it ALL, but the second your seed roots - THAT is when it becomes illegal.  WHAT A JOKE. 
There is $$$ to be made obviously- imagine if it were all legal - not only would all those businesses who already thrive  do better, people would want to grow properly - not 1/2 assed in a tiny closet. PEOPLE are passionate about growing.  For many it brings not only Cannabis/Medicine but it brings them PEACE. 
It makes me angry that you can go and spend $1000's  on all the supplies, do all the work - and do not kid yourself  - IT IS a lot of work.  If you do not do it right - it can be an expensive lesson,  but in an instant it can all be taken from you and you can be charged as a criminal for ROOTS.

If it were legal - the new level that it could be taken to- MONEY to be made,  taxed, quality medicine available for all, a safer alternative to BOOZE, eliminate the gate keeper - making it safer for our children.
 I have heard some growers say they don't want it legalized - it will put them out of business. I believe like anything else  if you go out of business it is because you are doing a crappy job. Be the best, provide superior product and you will not be going out of business.  Ending on a positive note, all the rest is legal - it is not going away, more and more people are researching, educating, growing every day - determination, persistence - like those darn dandy lions in the grass, this persistent weed  called Cannabis is not going anywhere but UP!   Up to face the sunshine. After reading about the guy strip searched cause his little 4 year old drew a gun - it got me thinking. Columbia tried to sue Mike Peters (Mother Goose & Grimm) for a cartoon he did, we all heard about the cartoonist who drew a God as a dog. Burnt his home to the ground ;-( 
I draw about Cannabis all the time - an illegal drug.  I am sure at some point I might have someone say something to me. 
Actually a while back I did - something along the lines as 'using a comic strip to educate about Cannabis, something geared towards kids...'  Well it just happens to be a comic strip because that is what I do - was born to do, LOVE to do -  I found recently some images of cartoon characters smoking- not only were they smoking but they were promoting SMOKING! Intentionally!!        Yikes.             NOT o.k.  
We choose - actually, LOOK around- did you choose to have that giant alcohol/underwear/donut ad in front of you where you walk by everyday - no - we are bombarded with images that we did not choose. 
BUT what we choose to do about them is a different situation. 
I do NOT feel alcohol is a disease. A sickness yes. A disease you wake up with everyday - you have no control.  Some people are born with them. AN alcoholic chooses to lift that drink to his/her lips with each sip.  So - if after you read my cartoons you go and smoke a fattie - the choice was yours. But if you smoke a go do something stupid-  I'm having trouble even finishing this sentence - its the person people, NOT the POT!  Just like every person that drinks and drives and kills someone cannot go and sue the alcohol that got him that way .. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm   Or the prescription drug - when mixed with your other medication - stopped your heart - well you can TRY to sue. If your still alive.
We need to take responsibility of our own choices. We need to be making educated choices.
Recreationally, Cannabis is much safer that alcohol. 
Medicinally - Cannabis is much safer than many prescribed medications. 
So If I have changed your mind - over to Cannabis with a cartoon -I'm thrilled - it's a start in the educated direction.  If I have made you at least question your other choices - Yippie!! 
If you plan on suing me because you over ate a brownie or two and missed that job interview - IT'S the person NOT the pot! 

- People draw much worse, they draw about murder, crime, rape, torture- it's endless... we all do what we feel we have to.  It is art.  It is how someone expresses this life. 
Who is anyone to say it is wrong- if it is NOT physically harming anyone - it is an image. 
If you do not agree with it - make your own choice.  
It is as simple as - if it is a product - do not buy it.

More than the fact that we 'LET' Cannabis prohibition continue -we should be ashamed that
we are a race, people, generation that is poisoning our youth! Recently I was reading children as young as 2 are being prescribed Ritalin! W.T.F?  At 2!?  Children are not being allowed to be children - the moment they act out - by that I mean being a kid! The are labeled difficult and prescribed a dumbing down medication !   Medications that cause serious side effects- long term addiction - and even death. Take one hour and educate yourself  by watching either Doc. - The Marketing of Madness   or  Generation Rx < can be seen on Netflix.   Illegal drugs get all the attention as prescribed medications abuse goes un-noticed and casually given to our children.  SHAME on teachers, parents and Doctors! Is your child out of control or perhaps they just need some attention. It is a fact that 20 years ago they got more attention  naturally - why- because we did not have the internet! Well we did - just not as rampant as now.  Life over all is busier but now we have to twitter and Fb and surf and blog. I know how much time it takes me daily and realize if Storm was little I would not have enough time for 1/2 of what I do on the computer. 
I have a friend with 3 young kids  all under 6, and I have noticed that she posts all day - posts her game levels- pot farm accomplishments, plans for the evening..  all the while I wonder what are the kids doing? How much attention can you possibly be giving your kids. FULL attention.  Instead many parents choose to medicate their children - plop them in front of the T.V.  and go about their busy lives. You may think that's fine now. Wait 15 years.
Teachers who suggest - stick to teaching!! Unless you are going to care for the child 24/7- how dare a teacher make such a suggestion that will affect a child on such a level for the rest of his/her life!  Dr.s who prescribe for children - KNOW the facts.  Perents who think it would be easier for them if their child was on Ritalin -

BEFORE you try a prescribed medication - TRY LOVE - LOTS of LOVE and attention! YOU brought them into this world! LIVE UP to their expectations! These little miracles of life need our love and attention and others to speak up against such crimes!

I know why I do not like to read the paper. I read facts like the above and I wonder - is it just me? IS it NOT common sense that what we are doing is NOT right? LOOK at the numbers. LOOK at the facts. LOOK at our kids who are suffering, too many kids - too few teachers. TOO little funding, loss of ART classes (sad), taking all of the fun stuff out of school because of no $$$$. YET - S.H. (fill in the blanks) is spending $$$$$$$$ (more than I am sure we are being told) on private prisons.  Our criminals are coming out of prison better educated than our children growing up on our streets. Look at Karla Holmolka -now - a.k.a Leanne Teale.  W.T.F???  What is it going to take to get this changed? FACT: Criminals  usually come out of prison better criminals. Surrounded by 100's of your peers - what else would you expect?   
Turn a blind eye... then don't complain in 20 years when all our kids are in prison because they had such a shitty education, and  all they could turn to to survive is crime.
 It is not S.H. we should blame. It is ourselves for not speaking up and demanding change. Change starts with getting rid of S.H. and private prisons in a country that the crime rate has declined - yet we build private prisons-  common sense?  IF your child is one of the few that will receive a great education  because you can afford it - TERRIFIC!!  He/she is still going to to be growing up with the many,  that cannot.  They will feel cheated and disappointed through no fault of their own, by an education system that is clearly failing the masses and are correct. It will not create a better, peaceful world - only an angrier one.
BUT that's o.k. I guess,  S.H. is making room for all of those angry little beings that are growing up.

As hard as I try to stay positive I read or hear about someone that has been convicted of being a criminal for Cannabis. For growing a plant.  O.k. - possibly for growing many plants.  If you have a legal license to grow - fantastic! It means you believe in what you are doing and have gone about it the proper routes.  I am not hear to judge, if you 'qualify' for a license or not -it's  between you and your Dr. If you grow illegally - well you are taking chances.   I am NOT promoting illegal GROW's   especially those who do it illegally and destroys others homes (renters). Not Nice.  Not professional. 
BUT put this into perspective. Legal or illegal - Growing plants?  If you are not harming anyone in the process-  Growing plants  should not be a crime punishable like it is.  In Canada (sigh - Oh, Canada)  our 'leader'  S---. H---. (feel free to fill in the blanks yourself). has it so that if you grow Cannabis you are treated like a criminal and suffer a harsher sentence than  a pedophile.  This applies to patients legal to grow as well. I know of a few people personally who although legal and due to a lack of response on Health Canada's time with the MMAR licenses - have put legal growers (in most cases also seriously ill patients) in danger of being arrested. 
Pedophile: Someone who is sexually attracted to children usually under the age of 12, stalks and  physically and mentally hurts children.  Damaging them for LIFE in most cases. Some people never get over it. Yet grow a few plants and you go to jail.  
 WHAT makes sense about that ??? Really?  No wonder I  (we) get angry.
