As things would have it - I spent today at Maryholme - and there was no more beautiful place to spend the morning with the first snow. Wish I had my camera. Chatting with Jane - homemade squash soup & a bit of Christmas decorating, I can not wait to get my tree this weekend. I had gone the last two years without a tree... 
What a wonderful day.  Inspired, it is time for a new  'Laughing Buddha' birthday wish...

Stages of cannabis awareness..  I have smoked cannabis off and on through out the years since my late teens. Admittedly  cannabis was not my drug of choice it was alcohol.  
I started to learn about Cannabis - when it became my son's medicine and I have been learning ever since.
~ At first we all have the "stoner/hippie" flash backs  funny things said or done and visions of Cheech & Chong. There are giggles involved, it's only natural! The reaction and the plant.  ~Then you start to read about all cannabis does and there are times even though I have witnessed first hand how it helps with my own sons pain- your still doubtful. How can one plant do so much!?? Help so many for so many reasons...
~Then education & research I was reading - the cancer cells that it kills in the brain, how people over and over say it helps get rid of their skin cancer, helps with all sorts of pain - in many cases where  serious prescribed narcotics would not.  Facts, scientific research - from ALL around the world. I am shocked that I have not heard and read of this sooner. Partly my own fault - ignorance on my part  and of course no thanks to the media. 
~Understanding. WOW.  This plant is really all that it is,  more than anything else it is 
'A PLANT."  A plant that people are being put to death around the world, punished for using it,  having their lives destroyed - having simple rights taken from them. The first right of a human to live freely - enjoy everything and to be able to make oneself feel better - physically & mentally.  With this realization came a feeling of sadness. Sadness at those suffering physically, mentally  and socially because of Cannabis - or rather - because of Cannabis prohibition.
~Anger.  Anger is what I feel now. Anger that we have added stress in our lives because on our sons medicine- that eases his daily pain!  Anger that so many who are suffering can not find a Dr. who will prescribe them this medicine - really - a plant that we should all have access to - we should all be able to grow JUST like EVERY OTHER plant on the planet! I am at a determined stage. Determined to help spread the word.  Determined to make people think.  Determined to help other parents.  Determined to share the truth.

We all have lucky days - but I believe if you have faith - eventually - every day seems lucky LOL. Rabbits feet. I admit when I was a kid they were all the rage! I would walk to the corner store and I believe they were only .50cents  I also had to have them in every color. 
 It is only NOW that I realize that a rabbit was killed for his feet.  Really- it just never crossed my mind like that before.  Same thing now I have no desire to wear real fur - I do like beaver fur - but at the expense of an animal being killed? I can pass.  I do eat meat- not much  and applaud vegans who can do so! I try to eat more vegetables. - It's all about choice, It is a blessing to live in a country where we do have the choice!  Imagine not having such a choice - This weeks toons - twitsted as it seems will go for a few bunnies to send to Asia   http://www.gfa.ca/gift/browse/from-the-stable/   $50 for the original and WE will send some bunnies to help support, educate and feed  a few people.  I love bunnies but I love people more.   I don't know why I draw what I do - ideas just come to me and I thought this one was cute. ***In 1996 He introduced a bill calling  for  life sentence for anyone who imports 2 (TWO) ounces of marijuana into the U.S.A.   AND  the DEATH Penalty for repeat offenders.   Are you paying attention?  EVEN if you do not use cannabis - imagine how this could effect you - someone you love. 
I believe in God.  Apparently so do many Americans - to the point where they just passed in a bill that they keep the saying "In God we trust..."

   O.k. tell me - how do you think God is going to feel knowing that people are put to DEATH over a PLANT that he put here for all of us to use!??   SERIOUSLY, think about that.   If you do not believe in God  ~ to be put to death over a plant!?  THINK about that!  Death - Not for murder, rape, child abuse, human traffiking - I wonder, will people be given a life sentence for importing humans for slave labour in the the United states??  Will they be given the death sentence for repeat offense?  I can only believe if this was his stand in 1996 - that with that kind of a mind - his intentions will only be worse now.  
So keep an eye on Newt.  Or be prepared to watch loved ones die.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SMOKE your medicine.  Many people think right away how can medicine be good for you that you smoke?  Well for one there is all kinds of proof - facts - that smoking Cannabis is not harmful to you - like Tobacco. Check out a few of the Documentaries  I've posted on my cannabis awareness page to educate yourself on that topic..  but you don't have to smoke it anyhow. You can vaporize (my son's preferred method) or use a bong (still smoking) or eat!  OH my goodness can you eat it!   I have tried so many different things  made with Cannabis, I  like to try because I can't believe it's Cannabis!  I ask my son just for a nibble to taste and he usually shares, just a nibble.  You would have no idea - my husband can confirm - as he has unknowingly tried cookies and 'tootsie' rolls.   With 'Medibles' as they are called,  you need to practice - start with little nibbles wait some time until you see how exactly it will affect you.  BUT just to give you an idea we have tried cotton candy, bubble gum, cookies, candies, cinnamon toast, pasta sauce - IT is limitless! What ever you cook with butter for one - you can use Cannabutter. I see so many terrific recipes with all the magazines my strip is in.

How many times have you heard cannabis will destroy your life, rot your brain, you'll never amount to anything. When people stop blaming the plant and blame the person we will all be better off. I know now that it is a terrible thing to tell your kids -lies - Cannabis is evil - because what happens is they try it and soon realize that is  in FACT not evil or deadly - most with access to the internet are in FACT realizing it is quite the opposite. SO when they do try - then they might think to themselves.. Hmm perhaps Meth is not so bad either.  BIG difference!  This toon shows just 3, 3 people who admitted to Cannabis use  (- some more than others)  that did IN FACT go on to be quite special and incredibly successful!  The president of the United states!?  Now if ONLY he would stand up for what he believes ;-( 
STOP the lies.   
If your teen does smoke Cannabis - GET OVER IT!  I could be worse. THEY could be drinking and driving.  I read of a young lady who killed herself after her mother had been made aware that she was smoking cannabis. There are much more serious problems to worry about - how about just the rise of teen suicide? But to blame them - tell them they will never amount to anything? WTF?  Over a plant. That is the crime.  Not the use of a plant that perhaps brings them just a bit of peace and relaxation and fun!  YES fun is important. Teens and young adults have even more pressure of on them than ever before.   So - This one is just out the window.
I know many many successful people - who all smoke Cannabis. 
If you go nowhere with your life you have one thing to blame... 
YOURSELF.

Reading the headlines every day I see yet again "police bust Cannabis factory". Other terms are Grow houses, Grow Op. Cannabis labs!?  I know that there are cannabis warehouses and Grow factories - most of them illegal. I have also said it before and will say it again I DO NOT agree with people who rent homes and turn them into grow houses - illegally. ILLEGAL is part of the problem. In my opinion I believe that most of these places are 1/2 assed and not alway safe because they have to be sneaky about it. They also do not care because they are renting. - IF they were legal - chances are it is then an investment and people want to do it right.  Legal medicinal growers - MOST of them that I am aware of, have only a small room/tent set up with a few plants. NOT everyone you read about is a GROW factory. If the government  really cared - then they should BE concerned about Meth labs.  Growing plants or mixing harmful chemicals that could kill just from breathing in the fumes or worse explode! I might add that people make meth everywhere, from inside cars, public washrooms and more!  Meth is a bigger problem than Cannabis - yet Cannabis is the one that we hear about most. WHY ?   

Do you have plants in your home?  How would you feel if someone came in and said you can't grow these plants. NOW how would you feel if these 'Plants' were easing your suffering. PLANTS, every window sill in my house has plants, every room. I love plants!
I have also been reading how growing medicine is so therapeutic for so many people.  It keeps their mind off their disease, gives them something to do - to care for tend to, be around nature. What a sense of accomplishment on top of it when you can use what you grow to ease your pain - physically & mentally.  Truly a Blessing.
So before you let your imaginations get to you .. NOT everyone who grows Cannabis has a GROW factory. Next time your watering your little budding beauties  imagine if the government had the right to come in and remove your plants. Your sage, basil, lavender, aloe vera. Plants.   How INSANE is that?  When it comes right down to it - don't forget - that is all Cannabis is ~ A PLANT!  Do you deny?  
It's not the plants fault that some people abuse it.
Choice. Education and the RIGHT to be happy & healthy.

I LOVE Canada  - I do not have the same love for our "leader" I use the term very loosely. I love our clean, friendly, laid back people, our BEAVER and polar bears,  moose & loons (-the bird and human kind). I am happy  with our Dr.s and with our health care -  most of the time. I am pleased that we do have the  MMAR program - bugs aside - Canada I believe is one of the world leaders in Cannabis medicine and research-     NO THANKS TO 'S.H'.   You know who I am talking about but use the initials any way you like ;-) 
Canada is the largest HEMP producer in the world and exporter.  Yeah Canada! 
I am proud of Rick Simpson. I have heard of course of Rick and his Cannabis oil off and on for years but have never had the chance to really look into it. Lucky for me a friend sent me the DVD just this week in the mail!  THANK YOU!!  I am so  Proud that this  stood up for what he believe and too tried to share it with the world - he tried to share it at least with Canada and they SHUT him down (ashamed).
 This story has more to it for me. My parents both have been legion members for as long as I can remember. My mom met my (step) dad 'Billy' at the legion.  My dad was a war vet - a respected one. Everyone loved my dad, he passed a few years back from dementia.  I,  you could say - grew up around the legion. My dad was very proud to be a legion member and told me "they are there for you - YOU as a person, as the daughter of a war vet and as a Canadian" - -so I must admit after watching the DVD how disappointed I was with the branch that turned it's back on Rick, fellow members and his cure. They should be ashamed of themselves - That is not the Royal Canadian Legion that I know.
 I do believe it is correct- research and you will see it's all about MONEY!! BIG pharm does not want you growing your medicine in your back yard. THINK ABOUT IT! There is not money to be made, there are Millions LOST when people  are curing themselves of cancer and so many other conditions with Cannabis.  COME to your own conclusions. RESEARCH.
I know several people who have had and have skin cancers removed. WHY on earth should they not have the option of using a natural cannabis plant to help cure the cancer on their body? IT would & SHOULD be MY first CHOICE before harmful chemicals.

I came up with fact or fiction because of everything I have been reading, learning that most of what I hear on the NEWS is fiction. It has me wondering about much. Yes, I guess I am naive in a few ways. Or rather - I was un-educated/ignorant on the topic of Cannabis.  Now, I am no where near an expert- LOL - BUT I have learned enough to realize that there is much more to this than a plant.  If you watch media when ever they talk about cannabis users they show images of  "hippies, lazy kids, -your stereotypical stoners "   I personally know so many different people who ALL smoke cannabis. They come in every walk of life. Rich, poor -educated, young, old ... * as a matter of fact I recently read in Europe mostly- it is the educated  who smoke Cannabis and children of parents who are successful- who smoke cannabis. I think because they grew up treating it like the harmless plant that it is and realize that is IT definitaly ONE of the safest recreational drugs available.  I know professionals, soccer moms, police officers, hard working  hubby's (NOT mine- he is not a fan of cannabis and prefers a pill when he is ill.. his choice - I'm working on him)  ;-) 
What I am trying to say IS there is NOT one person that you can use to portray someone who smokes Cannabis. 
DO NOT judge a book by it's cover. 
So funny -(NO, NOT REALLY) how they always seem to show the same sort of person when the topic of Marijuana is covered.   Quite frankly, I for one am growing tired of the misleading and insulting images used.  Insulting because It is my son's medicine and he is no 'stoner'.  Do they portray people who use morphine like this? No they portray them as sick patients who deserve compassion.    If Cannabis is your medicine then you too deserve  the same respect. I am PROUD my son uses Cannabis for his pain.   LOUD & Proud people.

The sun shining, my guys off to work, laundry is in and I'm already drawing and it's only 10:00 a.m.! Was thinking about what I'm grateful for this morning; it is the simple every day pleasures.
 MUSIC!  Where would I be without it? I have it on all the time. A music for every thing I do, clean or draw I have preferred tunes to toon to. Deval Premal, The Commodores, new stuff old stuff, it's all good! 
Books! Currently I am reading 3, The Pot Book- material and education,  The Clan of the Cave Bears - entertainment and educational - especially regarding all the herbal medicines
and The Purpose Driven Life ` because I like it. 
Paper! Picked up a new batch of paper and I'm excited! When I ran out recently it was in fact I realized like and addiction! I could not stop thinking about it.. was looking at my empty shelf every time I walked by. Prayer! Do what ever it takes ~ for what ever reason - It is the only thing that can calm me right down. My meditation.  It forces me to quiet, listen and hope. Puts things into perspective.   These things I do daily and never really thought how blessed I am to  have all these rituals at my finger tips. So many in this world do not have such simple luxuries  well except for music, music & prayer  we all access to them. Drumming  on a rock with a stick, humming a tune  praying with beads or pebbles.  What ever it takes.
DRAWING!! Where would I be with out it!?   LOST.  I have decided today to do something good with my drawing, every Monday I will post a toon and a price. The money for the toon will go to shipping and  donating to a charity of my choice - which I will add the link to.
